Found todays lecture really interesting, some of the pictures shown were stomach churning providing both a physical and mental reaction.I find the word ' Modification' an interesting choice which according to the Oxford dictionary is the act or process of changing something in order to make it more acceptable,as opposed to mutilation ( to damage ones body especially by cutting or tearing of part of it) It is an interesting point that with regards to all the things we have looked at today they have the one thing in common, that the people who do/or inflict them on their children or others do it because they believe that they are making themselves or others that they care about more acceptable in their society.Regardless of how much pain it causes or possibly of their own personal thoughts.

At last! have this blog thing sorted.
Religion.....Well afraid i believe this is used as a vehicle for all sorts of bad things. One thing that has struck me about religion is there is always a person or group of people at the top of the tree making shit loads of money while the majority of their followers live in absolute poverty.This is certainly true of the catholic religion as far as I can see and I would be intrested to see if anybody has other ideas with regards to this or can enlighten me to any religion that does not have a hierarchy in which the fairy at the top does not hold a position of ultimate authority and lives a lifestyle of luxury.

I am just starting to read a book by Richard E. Wentz (1993) Why People Do Bad Things In The Name of Religion so I will keep you posted on anything interesting. Hopefully ill hear from somebody who will try to convince me that religion does have some good things going for it.
